American Made Matters Day: A Call-to-Action for Every American Consumer
ADAMSTOWN, P.A. – American Made Matters is celebrating the 4th annual American Made Matters Day on November 19th this year. An organization dedicated to educating consumers on the importance of buying American-made products, American Made Matters asks consumers on this day to purchase one U.S.-made product. American Made Matters Day kicks off the holiday shopping season and encourages shoppers to continue to buy U.S.-made gifts for their friends and families.
November 19th has been declared American Made Matters Day not only because of the positive impact that manufacturing has on jobs, but also because of the impact it has on local communities, the U.S. economy, product safety, the environment, and the future of America. Each year, Pennsylvania has passed a resolution declaring November 19th as American Made Matters Day.
To celebrate American Made Matters Day, events will be held in 17 locations throughout the United States. These events will show the two American Made Matters videos, provide information to consumers, and give consumers the ability to buy U.S.-made products. Some locations will offer food and music. American Made Matters members, including Todd Shelton, Hats.com, The Buffalo Wool Company, Beercan Boards, Orox Leather Company and more, will be offering online sales and specials which will be available on the American Made Matters blog. Bollman Hat Company will again conduct tours in their historic Adamstown, PA factory, the oldest hat factory in America. Some members, including Bollman Hat Company, will be celebrating on Friday, November 18th, as November 19th is a Saturday and facilities are closed.
Maintenance and repair product supplier Thunder Industrial, located in Dothan, Alabama, is participating in their third consecutive American Made Matters Day and will be offering food, drinks, and live music to celebrate. Owner Chad Martin said, “On American Made Matters Day, a true synergy takes place throughout the country. Each participating company has a common goal of promoting American-made goods and educating consumers on the importance of buying American whenever possible. If we can improve American-made product sales even by small percentages, the overall impact to the core economic strength of our country is incredible. The number of jobs that are created by these small percentages is astounding.”

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reports that every $1 spent on American-made goods invests an additional $1.32 in the U.S. economy. If Americans dedicated just a small portion of their holiday shopping budget to buying American-made goods, it could have a very positive impact on our economy. In fact, according to ABCNews, if each American family spent just $64 on American-made goods during the holiday shopping season, it would generate 200,000 new jobs.
